“It has been a privilege and pleasure to know and work with Dominique for 12 years, the last nine as my Head of School. I am entering my 25th year as a Montessori teacher, and in the last 12 years, I have seen considerable professional growth due to Dominique’s exceptional guidance and mentoring.” Sumi Sarkar, Larkspur Children’s House Lead Teacher, Follow the Child Montessori School, Raleigh, NC

I had the pleasure of working with Dominique for seven years as a member of the Board of Directors at Follow the Child (FCM). During those years I watched Dominique enhance FCM's commitment to educational excellence, achieve financial stability, develop better institutional practices and lead the effort to relocate the school to a new multi-million-dollar campus. Her success is based on, among other qualities: kindness, respect, conviction, an ability to work with diverse constituencies, strong communication and organizational skills, and determination. I would especially like to highlight Dominique's successful management of the move to the FCM's new campus. While she did not have prior experience with commercial real estate transactions or construction, she deftly managed the process through a combination of strong organization, collaboration, resolve, intellectual curiosity, and the forethought to surround herself with experienced professionals.

Schools combine the complexity of meeting the infinitely diverse needs of children, a wide range of parent expectations, and a varied skill set among staff members. After decades of experience as a teacher, curriculum coordinator, parent, administrator, and Head of School, Dominique Mouthon has a wealth of skills and perspectives that are a support to a school of any size. In her tenure as Head of School, Dominique supported an under-grid of Montessori excellence at every level, an engaged staff that felt supported and encouraged to develop in their practice, an efficient and integrated administrative staff, and an invest d and inspired parent community. Above all, she kept the needs of the children at the center. With this multi-faceted approach, she grew a newly founded, small school to a thriving institution that is a leader in Montessori in the region. This unique skill set and expertise, allows her to be uniquely poised to provide an integrated approach to supporting Montessori schools that are looking to maximize their resources in the service of a larger goal.

Dominique not only honors, supports, and gently guides the developmental path of children, she is able to do the same with adults. This is true for both staff and parents/families. Throughout my daughter's first year in Montessori, Dominique nurtured me and supported my budding interest until finally, she guided me to take the AMI Primary training. So I can honestly say that meeting Dominique completely changed the trajectory of my life in a most extraordinary way. Dominique is a rare soul. You would be fortunate to work with her at every possible opportunity.
